In Nepal all school are still closed due to Covid-19. We let our students tell their story. Tika tells about her experience in the east of Nepal
As Mayans, we are getting bigger and stronger each year. We are staying in Gaighat, the capital of our district in East Nepal, because we recently opened a Mayan House there where we can do online classes with access to WiFi. Until the lockdown is finished, we will study here.
I am a girl who used to be very shy with boys. I felt shy to sit together or ask them for homework, but now I think I have changed. I am not too shy anymore. When I came to Gaighat, I came with Ramesh-brother and Jiten, and there were no other girls. Before that, when we were still in the village, I was usually the only girl studying at Ramesh-brother’s house. I think being shy will not help us to move forward, the world will not wait for us.
I wanna come back to Maya as fast I can to study even more than here, meet friends and teachers, and see Maya Home, where I’ve spent the last three years of my life.
