Natural disaster of corruption

In Nepal all school are still closed due to Covid-19. We let our students tell their story. A new poem by Bobby

Bobby Rana (grade 10)

Earthquake coming by
Dead bodies from foreign lands
Water forming lake in towns
Every year
Hills crumble away every year
People buried every year
News returns every year
But what is done
As the monsoon fades away
The solution is long gone

The land with problem starves
Then comes the help, the donation
It falls in the wrong hands
That use it for own gain

More problems
More donations
More donations
More corruption
Forming a new bicycle
That runs without fuel
But causes a lot of pollution
Every year a new infection
The wound is never healed
The medicine comes through politics
Getting stuck in the game

Can’t change your voice
As you gave it to somebody

Do you remember
Your voice was on
The piece of paper
Do you remember
Your voice was
On the plate
Full of rice and meat
Do you remember
Your voice was
On the t-shirt
You were wearing
Do you remember
The road made a month ago
Was broken from the middle
The nali(ditch) made a week ago
Did you find it buried
Do you remember
The option given
It wasn’t a choice
It was a threat

Do you remember
The speech
That gave you hope
Expired a long time ago

Fighting in the streets
Burning fire on tyre
It affected you not them

Do you remember
When the shout was rising
They weren’t listening
Instead planning to shut the mouth

Do you remember
You tried to change voice
But failed
Because you fell
For corruption
