Welcome to 2021

Finally, 2020 has ended and a new year has started: 2021! Many good and bad things have happened this past year. One of the biggest issues was the corona virus that started from our neighbouring country China. Because of that virus, the whole year 2020 was tough and caused many people pain. A lot of people suffered from lack of money, food and shelter, especially people who were poor. Nepal and some other countries were closed for a very long time, during which there was no education, work or public transportation! Even the smaller shops in our village were closed, people could not go to support family members who lived far, and all the children could not go to school to study.

It was a really difficult time, not just for our country but also for the rest of the world. But now the new year has started, and maybe all the problems that the corona virus has caused will be over soon. Even if the problems keep happening, we should not give up easily. We should continue classes regularly and work hard for our education, make new friends, get better skills and also do fun activities. I hope that 2021 will bring a lot of exciting new knowledge and people into our lives, that all children can get to study, and that people can continue their jobs and live their life how they want. We always have to do a little bit better than last year.

The most important thing is that all Mayans start the year together like before, as a family. Businesses that have been closed should open and we can start new enterprises together. All teachers, volunteers and others who are working for or at Maya should come back to be with the other Mayans. We should keep on doing good things and moving forward like we always have done to help ourselves and other children get better and stronger. We have to do good for Maya and for the country. So, I hope this 2021 will be better, not just for us but for everyone in the world! Welcome to 2021.
